Short trip – What would Advent be without hot spiced wine and gingerbread enjoyed at glistening Christmas markets?

The public bus stops right in front of the house and will take you on a comfortable 20-minute ride to the Old City of Salzburg and the historic Salzburg Christmas Market.
Afterwards, set out on your personal city tour and visit other Advent markets. Whether in front of the cathedral, on Mirabellplatz square, up at Hohensalzburg fortress or Schloss Hellbrunn, the fragrance of gingerbread, “Glühwein” and hot roast chestnuts will accompany you everywhere you go.
You can also expect a festive, reflective atmosphere at the big Christmas market in Hallein, located in the old salt works there. The white you see doesn’t necessarily come from the snow, but more probably from the salt from the nearby Dürrnberg, which once used to be stored here.
For yet another special highlight, we would recommend a visit to the Silent Night Museum in Hallein. Immerse yourself in the world of Franz-Xaver Gruber, the poet behind the world-famous “Silent Night” who lived and worked in Hallein for 28 years.
