Summer and Winter Sports in Salzburg
Hiking, cycling, mountain biking, running, alpine and Nordic skiing, outdoor sports
All hikes, Nordic-walking routes, mountain bike tours, bicycle tours etc. can be found in the Tennengau Touring Map.
At the golf course in Hallein-Rif, you will encounter optimal playing conditions. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Untersberg Massif, a unique 9-hole course presents golfers with some challenging hazards.
We are just 2 km from the Hallein-Rif Sports Center. It is available for competitions of all kinds and reserved groups.
Hiking and Nordic Walking
Many hikes and walks begin right from here at the hotel. In the Tennengau Hiking Book, all of the hikes are described in detail.
The Berchtesgaden-Salzburg Alpine Trekking Trail runs just above the hotel and can be completed in 7 days. The new "SalzAlpenSteig" is a premium hiking trail running from Chiemsee to Hallstatt, and also passes through Hallein.
Along the banks of the Salzach, you will find ideal conditions for running, jogging or Nordic walking. It is only about 250 meters from the hotel to the Salzach. The Power Tour passes right by us, while other clearly marked routes can be reached via the Salzach.
Cycling and Mountain Biking
We are an ideal base for cyclists of all kinds, especially since the Tauern Bike Path, Alps-Adriatic Bike Tour and the Salt & Lakes Tour are close by. We are around 250 m from the River Salzach, and the way is clearly marked. The Tauern Bike Path runs from Krimml to Salzburg, intended for cyclists with a more laid-back approach, and treating you to all kinds of sightseeing attractions along the route.
Several designated mountain-bike trails can be found in the Tennengau MTB Guide, including day-tours as well as the "Göllrunde", which is a 3-day adventure.
Alpine- and Nordic Skiing
The inexpensive Zinkenkogel family ski area in Dürrnberg, just outside Hallein, is about 7 km away. Take advantage of affordable "points passes" or 2-, 3- or 4-hour tickets. This is also where you will find the closest cross-country ski trails.
You are only a 45-minute drive on the Tauern Autobahn from major Salzburg ski areas including the Hochkönig, Salzburger Sportwelt-Amadé and Gastein. With the Amadé Card or the Salzburg Super Ski Card, you enjoy the advantage of being able to check out several different ski areas.
